Just arrived! Our private single barrel selection of Angel's Envy is in, just in time for the holidays. This Kentucky Straight Bourbon was finished in Port Wine barrels.
Tasting Notes: Muted vanilla, light oak, and leather swirl together and are joined with dashes of green peppercorn and syrup-soaked raisins. A delicate touch from the port barrels imparts subtly distinct flavor nuances that enhance the whiskey without challenging it.
The Process: Angel’s Envy Port Finish is blended in small batches of 8-12 barrels at a time. Typically aged up to 6 years, it is then finished in ruby port wine casks for an additional 3-6 months, barrels being made from French oak which are imported directly from Portugal.
The Story: The 5% of spirit lost each year during barrel aging is called the “Angel’s Share.” After tasting the finished whiskey, Lincoln, the founder, joked that they’d finally gotten a better deal than the angels. And so Angel’s Envy was born.
