The color is a lively and brilliant dark ruby-red. The perfume is fresh and intense with clean scents of wild berries, currants and sour black cherry. A light hint of vanilla and toasted oak. The flavor is warm and robust, full-bodied, pleasant and balanced. This Barbera’s sensory attributes make it an outstanding accompaniment for imposing first courses and main-course, meats boiled or roasted.
Cooked pears with spices as well as dark fruits. Medium-bodied with a linear and fresh acidity that drives the wine. Attractive dryness at the end.
Maraia translates from the Piedmontese dialect to “little rascals” and this wine plays right into that moniker. Vibrant and playful aromas of sour cherry and raspberry dance with fresh flowers and wild herbs. The palate is zippy and pops with red currants and pomegranate that give way to savory flavors before finishing with crisp acidity.
